Like Mother, Like Son

When I was a baby, I used to suck on my middle fingers.  Colin is a thumb sucker, but when he can't figure that out, his fingers are in his mouth.  The picture of him below is not very flattering, as he looks way more chunky than he actually is, but unfortunately I don't usually have the camera when he sucks his fingers.  So funny that he does the same thing I used to.

4 Months

We love our beautiful four month old.  He is 14 pounds (the 26th percentile for weight) and is now 2 feet tall!  Colin is a happy little boy who loves to eat and observe.  Colin enjoys sleeping, touching "softy" blankets (two is definitely better than one in his mind), and sucking his thumb.  Colin is the only one who likes Mom's singing and is a wonderful roller.  He's growing quickly and we love seeing Colin's personality develop.

Roll Over, Roll Over

The little one in the bed has learned to roll over and now he won't stop.  We captured Colin's first roll on camera.  We put him down on the floor while unpacking and he rolled right into the swing.  Now whenever we put Colin down he rolls over from back to tummy.  He doesn't always get his arms under him correctly and usually ends up with his nose to the carpet, but he's working on propping himself up after rolling over.  Colin is developing and growing so fast!

Moving On Up

A few weeks ago, we moved to a third floor apartment across town with the help of Seth, Randy, and a few friends.  Seth and Jarom did the majority of the heavy lifting, and we could not have done it without Seth.  Moving all our stuff, especially the heavy items like the couches, the barbecue, and the marble table, up three flights of stairs was difficult, but we love the end result.  This is the second time we've moved with a three month old, and I don't recommend it.  But now we're basically moved in and are excited about our cozy new place.
During the move
Our bedroom with a good-sized walk-in-closet
My favorite place in the house (the pantry) and Bryson's favorite (the desk space in his room)
The boys' room and the bathroom
Kitchen and dining room (off the kitchen, there's a laundry room and a storage room. . .yea!)

Independence Day Celebration

We had a wonderful Independence Day this year.  We started out with a family 5K.  Bryson did great with a time of 48 minutes, 49 seconds.  His radio crashed to the ground at mile 1 and that slowed him down, but once we got it working again, Bryson was back up and running and kept Grandma Jane going.  Colin rode in style in the jogging stroller that was decked out in honor of our nation's birthday and seemed to enjoy the ride, especially the push uphill. There were over a thousand runners so it was hard to get the stroller through the course, but Colin and I crossed the finish line about two minutes after Bryson and Grandma Jane.  We watched the parade after the race and then after everyone took naps, we had barbecued ribs at Jane and Randy's, did our own fireworks, visited Jane's Aunt Sheila and Uncle Rudi, and then finished the night with the city's firework show.  It was a great  4th of July!

He Found It!

After a few months of trying, Colin can now find his thumb consistently.  That's good news for us because he can soothe himself and is sleeping better.  I can't get over how cute he is when he does it.
