You've Come A Long Way, Baby

He's come a long way, baby! Happy Birthday to our sweet Colin!  His day was spent eating, napping, and going to story time at the library.

The Statue of Liberty and Cupcake Decorating

Bryson has been learning about symbols at school.  He's come home with George Washington and Abraham Lincoln hats, maps, and lots of information about symbols important to our country.  Yesterday he made this Statue of Liberty costume and insisted on holding a book for the photo like the real Lady Liberty.  Today we went to another cooking class and he made frosting and decorated cupcakes.  He's learning a lot this first grade year and growing up so fast.

Little Chef

We might just have a "Junior Master Chef on our hands."  Bryson is taking his first cooking class.  So far they have made stir fry and chicken fingers.

Colin's First Snow Day

Last week it was 70 degrees and this week it's been scold and snowy.  It's snowed several times in the lat few months, but today was the first time Colin went out and played in it.  This morning we sat him outside and he liked touching and eating the snow but cried when his hands got cold, so we brought him inside and let him play with a plate of snow which he enjoyed playing with.  Later this afternoon, we all went sledding with Grandma Jane, Papa Randy, and some friends.  Colin got cold pretty quick even though he was bundled up in his snowsuit and he and I sat in the car watching the boys.  Judging from his experience today, I think we have another snow lover in our future.

Valentine's Day Dates

These little boys were my Valentine's Day dates.  Jarom has worked the last several nights and works again tonight, so I took the boys to celebrate with me in his absence.  We went to Olive Garden and Colin ate more than I've ever seen him eat and Bryson enjoyed the meal too, especially the Italian donuts we ordered for desserts.

Eleven Months

This cutie is eleven months old and into EVERYTHING.
At eleven months, Colin:
  • Has 6 teeth (four on top, two on bottom), with more coming in.
  • Is standing up to everything but not quite cruising yet
  •  Will eat anything he is given (with the exception of oatmeal because he's not a fan of the texture)
  • Can climb stairs or the dishwasher (but has trouble getting back down)
  • Loves baths
  • Likes being read to and spends a lot of his time pulling down books
  • Is still waking up every hour and a half or so at night despite our best efforts
  • Is becoming more verbal and says "Mom," "Daddy," "Wa" (want) and "Ni-ni" (which is Night-Night or "No" depending on the situation)
  • Likes to play with Bryson, especially because Bryson allows Colin to climb on him and wants to explore anything Bryson is doing
  • Knows what "No" means and shakes his head "No" when we say it because he thinks it's funny, and will crawl away from something he knows he shouldn't be doing when we say it
  • Starting to blow kisses and do the actions to "The Itsy, Bitsy, Spider"
  • Is as cute as ever!

Sunny Days

It got up to 72 degrees today, in February, so I took the boys to the park to enjoy the sunny weather we've been having.  Colin enjoyed his first time at the park going down the slide and sitting on the toys.  The tears are because I wouldn't let him eat the wood chips he found on the bottom of the slide.
